It Came from the Deep by Maria Lewis - Release!!!

IT CAME FROM THE DEEP

“A murder, a mystery and a merman ... “

The Young Adult (YA) debut from the best-selling author of the Who’s Afraid? series, Maria Lewis, is set to drop on Halloween. It Came From The Deep is a thrilling science-fiction mystery and will be available worldwide on October 31, 2017 in eBook form.
Lewis, who has been a journalist for over 13 years, said she’s excited at the prospect of readers getting to meet a whole new cast of characters. “I’m a massive fangirl and consumer of Young Adult fiction and have always wanted to write something in that world, but I’ve just been waiting for the right story,” she said. “It Came From The Deep is that story and my twist on The Little Mermaid meets Creature From The Black Lagoon.”
Lewis’s debut novel and its sequel – Who’s Afraid? and Who’s Afraid Too? – have been published worldwide to critical acclaim through Little Brown Books, Piatkus Fiction and Hachette Australia. With her third Who’s Afraid? novel set for release in 2018, Lewis wanted to dip her toe into the realm of digital publishing. “I’ve been super fortunate that my first two novels have found an audience worldwide, but that does mean a staggered release date for readers depending on what part of the world they’re in,” she said.
“For instance, Who’s Afraid? was released in Australia in January, 2016 but didn’t hit American shelves until September, 2017. I get a lot of messages from readers annoyed about this and usually it’s out of my hands. However, by releasing It Came From The Deep in eBook form I have the ability to make sure it’s available everywhere - globally - at the exact same time. And on my favourite day of the year, Halloween.”
Set among the picturesque waterways of the Gold Coast, Australia, It Came From The Deep plunges readers into the world of surf life saving. Her third book in under two years, Lewis is currently working on the television adaptation of Who’s Afraid? with Emmy and BAFTA award-winning production company Hoodlum Entertainment.
It Came From The Deep is available October 31, 2017 everywhere eBooks are sold.

SYNOPSIS
An elderly professor is murdered, leaving a puzzling crime scene for police to unravel and a laboratory housing all kinds of marine life. But something is missing ... something huge.

After nearly drowning in Lake Pelutz and her attackers on the run, Kaia is left with more than just physical injuries. She’s convinced she saw something in the depths of the lake: something that choose to spare her.
Uncertain whether she’s running towards the discovery of a friend or foe, Kaia begins digging into a mystery that may have bigger ramifications than she or any of her friends can fathom.
